It seems clear that the world will need much more such renewable energy to meet the climate targets established and especially so when hydrogen from electrolyzers becomes more and more a favoured solution.

Ovako is starting a collaboration with the Volvo Group, Hitachi ABB Power Grids Sweden, H2 Green Steel and Nel Hydrogen to invest in hydrogen production in Hofors.

The new report highlights Ovako’s leadership in sustainable steel production with a 54 percent reduction in CO 2 emissions since 2015 and a carbon footprint for its steel products that is 80 percent lower than the global average. It also sets new targets to build on these achievements through to 2040.

We take pride in contributing to the circular economy and producing steel that is close to carbon neutral. More than 97% of our input material comes from scrap.

We have overcome travel restrictions during the pandemic by working digitally to achieve the annual quality management certifications for our mills. Maintaining certifications is essential for us to continue supplying our customers. Therefore, we have turned to web conferencing and video calls in place of the usual in-person approach.
