Fossil-free hydrogen initiative by Ovako, Volvo Group, Hitachi ABB Power Grids Sweden, H2 Green Steel and Nel Hydrogen
- Enables climate-neutral steel production and hydrogen-powered heavy vehicles Sweden’s largest fossil-free hydrogen facility is now being built with the goal of greatly reducing CO2 emissions, developing local industrial hydrogen production, and taking the first step towards a future hydrogen infrastructure for the transport sector. Ovako is starting a collaboration with the Volvo Group, Hitachi ABB Power Grids Sweden, H2 Green Steel and Nel Hydrogen to invest in hydrogen production in Hofors.

Ovako’s Sustainability Report for 2020 outlines direction for new ambitious climate targets
The new report highlights Ovako’s leadership in sustainable steel production with a 54 percent reduction in CO 2 emissions since 2015 and a carbon footprint for its steel products that is 80 percent lower than the global average. It also sets new targets to build on these achievements through to 2040.
